  • Plan for your day ahead of time in order to maximize your time and minimize your guilt (no need to leave your coworkers hanging – set the day in advance and prepare accordingly.)
  • Trust your team. Though we often believe we’re indispensable, we really aren’t. The workday will continue without you, and projects and tasks will be completed without your presence. Trust in your coworkers to handle things without you.
  • Think about what you need, and plan for that. This isn’t the day to make doctor’s appointments or get your oil changed. Plan activities that will make you happy and give you a boost. This can mean time outside, lunch with a friend, or taking a midday pilates class.
A mental health day off from work can be exactly what you need to reconnect to yourself, avoid burnout, reassess your progress toward your goals and gain new perspective.
