The Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate Program consists of 7 modules of instruction, plus 45 hours of supervised practicum and minimum of 255 hours of on-site clinical instruction designed around your schedule. Our Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate Program is specifically designed to meet the educational requirements for drug counselor certification. Each course is focused on required content as specified by the 12 Core functions as required by state regulations and International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC & RC) standards. This certificate program consists of 6 fully online courses of 45 hours each. In addition, a supervised practicum and field work internship is required for this certificate. The course work for the practicum is a 45 hour course, and the internship requires a minimum of 252 hours (21 hours for each core function) and 3 hours for agency orientation (total 300 hours). All of the required courses and the field internship must be completed in order to earn the certificate. Certified Addiction Counselor Certificate Requirements: Each course consists of 45 credits (or classroom hours). Pre-requisites for SAC 107 include: SAC 101, SAC 102, SAC 103, SAC 104, SAC 105, and SAC 106. Students are also required to have a site for their field internship before beginning SAC 107. Nearly all of the required books for the courses are sources for the licensing exam administered by the IC & RC. Students are strongly encouraged to keep all of their required and recommended reading materials for exam preparation.
