Agustin Velazquez

I am the Director of Operations at my current job. I am married and have 4 children, 2 dogs, a toy Cavapoo, and a miniature Australian Shepard. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, Cheer on the Angels baseball team, and I also like to spend time outdoors fishing. I’m very passionate about recovery, my own recovery, and the opportunity to share recovery with those who also want it. My personal recovery experience is a major reason I’m drawn to this field. It has taught me the importance of showing up for people when they’re at their lowest.

I chose ATI because it is online, it gives me the flexibility to study on my own time, and the program is affordable. I like the fact that the professors are very knowledgeable and they give their time and willingness to give me the attention and help I need to understand the materials. I plan to continue to advance my career and education by obtaining my certification to show a proven track record with my own recovery and education to back it up, as well as to help others, whether it’s in one-on-one counseling or a group facilitation. I will use my education to improve the way I connect with clients. I want to be able to guide clients through difficult moments with better grounding techniques, motivational interviewing strategies, and trauma‑informed approaches.
