Sommer is native to California and has been working with (and for) her community, for the past 20 years. She began teaching dance at local school sites, at age 19, and began pursuing a higher education in Human Services in 2004. Upon obtaining her Associate in Human Services, Sommer became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (CADC II) and began working with a local non-profit agency that focused on Outpatient and DUI services. As an intern, she focused her attention to conduct, ethics, and Utilization Review. Sommer soon moved into Admissions, and Case Management. After several years of coordinating Adolescent Outpatient, Outreach, and Prevention services, Perinatal Services, Children and Family Services, as well as supporting Transitional Living, she moved in to managing the Outpatient Campus. From there she quickly transitioned into managing agency Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Clinical Training, spanning two counties in Northern California. Currently she stills enjoys teaching dance, and choreography. She works hard to balance a full, happy, and healthy family life, with a professional career. Sommer is drawn to teaching and is excited to be invited to support prospective clinicians, who share the drive and passion to pursue a focus in Substance Use Disorders.
