Description:  Certified Community Health Worker – Florida

The CCHW designation is an entry-level credential for front-line health workers who, by virtue of their trusted status in the community, serve as a liaison, link and intermediary between health services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.

The Educational Requirements for the Florida CCHW are included in this training. The training is worth a total of 30 hours, broken down as follows:
1. Communication and Education: 4 hours
2. Resources: 4 hours
3. Advocacy: 4 hours
4. Foundations of Health: 4 hours
5. Professional Responsibility: 4 hours
6. Electives: 10 hours

This package or series of courses has been designed to meet the requirements of the Florida Certification Board for the Community Health Worker certification. We will provide additional courses to meet the requirements for other states, unless the requirements are excessive.

Currently the CHW certification package is thirty hours long and consists of a series of courses, each with their own exams. Students have 3 chances to pass the exam, after which there could be a fee to reset the exam. The most common reason to fail an exam is the material was not read.


Students have the option to print out the exam in advance and take the courses open book style. Answering the questions as they read the material, then coming back and entering the exam questions online. Exams are scored instantly. Upon successfully completing an exam, students complete the course evaluation, upon which the certificate of completion will be displayed. Students have the option of printing, downloading or emailing the certificate at this point. Students will need the certificates of completion to apply for the state certifications.

Restrictions:

1. You have 3 trials to pass each course.  Additional attempts may incur additional fees. 
2. You can only complete and receive credit once for each course per annual fee. 
3. Live seminars, workshops, hybrid courses (including the Florida Laws and Rules required for Licensure under Chapter 491) are not included in this package.  
4. Make sure the courses you take are approved for your discipline.
5. All online materials are included free of charge, books are not included.
