Certified Behavioral Health Technician – Florida

Please note: Access to the course package expires after 1 year
 
The CBHT is an entry-level credential for people who are providing support services to adults or children who are receiving substance abuse or mental health services in residential program, in-patient settings or community based programs.

Training Requirement (covered by our online training) –
Florida CBHT applicants must complete and document a minimum of 30 hours of training as follows:
1. Clinical Competence: 8 hours
2. Maintaining Client and Personal Safety: 4 hours
3. Documentation and Patient Confidentiality: 4 hours
4. Ethical and Professional Responsibilities: 4 hours
5. Electives (any domain): 10 hours


Other Requirements for Full Certification in Florida:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. 24 hours of on-the-job supervision, delivered and documented by an FCB approved qualified supervisor
3. 1,000 hours of work experience providing behavioral health technician supervision and support to people receiving residential or non-residential behavioral health services in a state-licensed or approved facility for behavioral health services in Florida or another state.
4. Pass the certification exam (completed after all other requirements are met)

Our online BHT course package has been designed to meet the requirements of the Florida Certification Board for the Behavioral Health Technician. We will provide additional courses to meet the requirements for other states, unless the requirements are excessive. 

Currently the BHT certification package is thirty hours long and consists of a series of courses, each with their own exams.  Students have 3 chances to pass the exam, after which there could be a fee to reset the exam.  The most common reason to fail an exam is the material was not read.

 
Students have the option to print out the exam in advance and take the courses open book style.  Answering the questions as they read the material, then coming back and entering the exam questions online.  Exams are scored instantly. Upon successfully completing an exam, students complete the course evaluation, upon which the certificate of completion will be displayed.  Students have the option of printing, downloading or emailing the certificate at this point.  Students will need the certificates of completion to apply for the state certifications. 

Restrictions:

1. You have 3 trials to pass each course.  Additional attempts may incur additional fees. 
2. You can only complete and receive credit once for each course per annual fee. 
3. Live seminars, workshops, hybrid courses (including the Florida Laws and Rules required for Licensure under Chapter 491) are not included in this package.  
4. Make sure the courses you take are approved for your discipline.
5. All online materials are included free of charge, books are not included.
