I currently work in the substance use treatment field as a case manager and facilitator supporting clients in early recovery. My role allows me to be present with individuals as they begin rebuilding their lives, which is both meaningful and rewarding. Outside of work, I enjoy attending recovery meetings, spending time with my dogs, and connecting with like-minded people who are committed to growth and service. I also appreciate quiet moments of reflection and learning anything that helps me become a better counselor and person. This season of life has allowed me to focus deeply on my education, my work in recovery, and the people I have the privilege of supporting on their journey. My dogs bring me a lot of joy and personality into my life. They are wonderful reminders to slow down and enjoy the small moments. I’d have hundreds of mini furry therapists if I could! I’m deeply passionate about recovery, personal growth, and helping others find hope again. There is something incredibly powerful about witnessing someone realize that their past does not define their future.
I wanted to pursue an education in drug and alcohol counseling because my desire in this field comes from a deep respect for recovery and the life-changing impact it can have. I’ve seen how powerful support, understanding, and guidance can be when someone is ready to change their life. I wanted to be part of that process. ATI stood out because of its focus on preparing students for real work in the recovery field. The program felt accessible, supportive, and aligned with my goal of becoming a counselor who truly understands the people she serves. I appreciate how practical and applicable the coursework was. The material connects directly to real-world counseling situations, which makes the learning experience feel purposeful. The professors are knowledgeable, personable, and more than willing to help! The online format also made it possible to continue working while pursuing my education. It created flexibility while still providing a structured path toward certification. Once I am certified, I plan to continue growing within the substance use treatment field and use my certification to deepen the support I provide to clients in recovery. The most meaningful part of my work is seeing people rediscover their sense of possibility. Watching someone regain hope and begin believing in themselves again is incredibly powerful. My education will give me the tools to better understand addiction, recovery, and the counseling process. I want to use that knowledge to provide thoughtful, informed, and compassionate support to every client I work with.
