Certified Therapist and consultant in training who resides in Columbia, SC. Nakendra has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Francis Marion University. She has dual Masters degrees in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and Social Work from Winthrop University, and primarily specializes in substance use and trauma with the adolescent and young adult population.
Nakendra began her career in counseling working with adolescents in psychiatric residential treatment facilities before returning to school to obtain an additional Masters in Social Work. While pursuing her MSW, she developed a passion for working with individuals with substance use disorders through her internship and eventual long-term employment at a local substance use disorder treatment facility.
She is currently employed as a clinical counselor with a local school district where her passions for education and counseling collaborate together to all her to address the social and emotional needs impacting the well-being of the students as well as their learning in the classroom. In addition to her full-time job, she has a budding private practice.
